DRINKING MILK STILL DOES NOT PREVENT THIS FINNISH DISEASE
Drinking plenty of milk has been shown in some studies to reduce the risk of adult-onset diabetes. However, based on a recent Danish study, this does not seem to be the case.
The study is based on the health and diet data of nearly one hundred thousand Danes, and based on this, drinking milk does not affect how likely a person is to develop adult-onset diabetes. Milk was also not associated with overweight. No connections were observed even with more than five glasses of milk daily in the streaks.
The researchers also used genetic-level data in their research to differentiate between those who were likely to avoid drinking milk. This was achieved by looking at gene variants related to the ability of the gut to break down lactose. Also in this analysis, milk did not affect the risk of diabetes.
The same group of researchers has also studied the other health effects of milk with the same research data. Recently, they showed, among other things, that the use of milk and dairy products does not predispose to heart attacks or other heart symptoms, although this is suspected to be the case.
The study was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
